Jean's Primer

Some of you may know the history of the Star Anise Café, but for those who don’t…

In 2004, Milde Gydelyte, Alexandra Hoppe and Nicholas Allan opened Star Anise with the mission of serving delicious and nourishing wholefood plant-based meals. To this day, we continue to open our doors and proudly serve Stroud.

Most days, we can hardly believe that we’re still, still doing what we love in service of the town that we love. Nicholas and the other founders all trained under the tutelage of Jean Torné at Concord Institute, all those years ago. Nicholas continues to be a participating member and trustee of Concord.

__

We know that many of you enjoy the meals that we serve (we assume, because you keep coming back!). If you’ve ever thought about re-creating these wholefood and plant-based dishes at home, then there’s a wonderful opportunity at attend a workshop at Concord, taught by Jean Torné himself!
